2004

     December 24th, 2004

Well, tomorrow's the big day.  I hope all of you are in the Holiday spirit and have the opportunity to spend at least some of this season with those you love.

We've had a really cold spell here in Music City, and there's even a skiff or two of snow hanging around, though it may not last until tomorrow.  Still, it helps enhance the Holiday spirit, especially for those of us who were reared in colder climates.

Take care, don't eat to much, and I'll talk to you in the New year!  --Jim Glaser

     December 14th, 2004

A cold day here in Middle Tennessee, the coldest of the season so far.  I hear that some folks in the area even saw a few flakes of snow.

The airplay on, "Me and My Dream," is very exciting.  Promotion man extraordinaire--Bill Wence--tells me that things pretty much stagnate now as far as new adds and chart action are concerned until after January 1st, but he has some great plans for new efforts in the New Year.  If any of the stations listed on the Home Page are in your area, a call to request, "If I Had You To Love Over Again," or something else from the CD, would certainly be a big help.

I'm hard at work re-writing my novel, "Drowning On The Third Coast."  I'm about two-thirds done, and I have some plans and hopes for it when it's finished.  Keep your fingers crossed.  In case I haven't told you before, it's a story about a guy trying to make it in Country Music, circa the mid 1980s.  It's not my biography by any means, but it is based on some of my experiences as well as elements of the lives of people I've known in Music City over the years.

That's about it for now.  Take care until next time.  --Jim Glaser

     December 5th, 2004

Well, I'm all moved into my new home.  Actually, I've been here a week already.  Still lots of boxes to unpack, but slowly I'm making progress.

Saturday night we had a real family get-together here.  Jane, of course, and all the kids except Jim II and wife Patty and children Kayla, Alex and Dylan--who live in Seattle.  Jeff was down from Gatlinburg and and Lynn (with husband Jeff and children Keri and Stephen) and Connie, who now only live 10 minutes.  It used to take me an hour and twenty minutes to drive home after one of these family gatherings, what a treat to be so close.

Airplay on the Americana stations is picking up on the new CD, thanks to the efforts of Bill Wence.  Thanks, Bill.

I had a nice order for  both CDs from Victoria at Bud's Country, a record store on High Street in London, England.  Thanks, Victoria.

The cats--Junior, Cleokatra, Harry and K.B. Bittens, have finally adjusted to the new surroundings.  Harry freaked out the most, but has now accepted things.  He slept curled up on my bed last night, snuggled up right next to me, just like he did in the old house.  This was the first time he did it here, and I take it as a positive sign he's beginning to feel at home.  Of course, the other three were already asleep on the bed when Harry arrived.

That's all for now.  Take care until next time.  --Jim Glaser

     November 25th, 2004

     HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL!!

Well, the long-awaited moving-day will be here tomorrow.  Actually it's 2 days, they'll pack my "stuff" tomorrow and move it into the new house on Saturday.  It'll be weeks before I get the boxes unpacked and all, but it's a great time as I take the next step in this new phase of my life.  Jane still has things to do on her house before she puts it on the market, so the exact day she'll be joining me is unclear at this time.

I'll be off-line for a while until I get new Internet service installed.  I can finally get broadband, and that will be a joy, after years of being tied to a 56k dial-up modem.  I do have ISDN service here in the woods, which helps quite a bit.  But it isn't broadband.

I'll have a new email address, too, which will be reflected when you click on the, "E-Mail Jim" button on any of the pages of this web site.

The new air play on, "Me and My Dream," is exciting.  Things in that area will slow down during December, as they always do, but Bill Wence, promotion man extraordinaire, assures me that it all picks up again after the first of the year.  He's on the case, I can assure you.

Today I'll go out jogging for the last time here.  I've done over 7,700 miles on these beautiful, quiet roads since I moved here in 1992.  That's roughly equivalent to the distance from New York to Los Angeles, back to New York again, then back to Omaha.  Since I started running in January of 1979, I've logged over 16,100 miles.  No wonder my knees are cranky sometimes.

I do worry about my cats adjusting to this move, but I'm sure we'll all do fine.  It will take a few days for all of us to adjust.  The hardest thing for them will be having to stay indoors until I can get an area fenced in the back yard for them to move around in.  Fortunately, as cats sleep up to 18 hours a day, the days will pass quickly for them.

Until next time, take care.  --Jim Glaser

    November 11th, 2004
Exciting news on the Home Page, if you noticed.  Some air play beginning on the new CD, especially, "If I Had You To Love Over Again", new promotion man, etc.  We're not done yet by a long shot!

We've found a house we like and have put in an offer, everything is in a rush now to get both deals finalized and the moving process completed in the short time frame allowed.

Thanks to all of you who check in here, and for your "good luck wishes."  Until next time, take care.  --Jim Glaser

     November 8th, 2004

Beautiful weather here in Tennessee, quite warm for the season.  We still haven't found the perfect house, but I feel we're close.

Good news about KJFC, in Los Altos Hills, California, adding, "Me and My Dream" to the play list.  We only need one point from which to break out, perhaps this will be the one.  Thanks to Mike Miyake.

I also received a Country Music magazine from the south of France, titled: Le Cri du Coyote, which gave a nice review of the CD.  Or at least that's what Paul Gauvin, co-writer of many of the songs and my bandleader back in the 80s, told me it said.  He translated it to me from French, which is Paul's native language.  He's orginally from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

Also a radio play list from The Netherlands, which shows that they're playing, "Georgia Sunshine," from the new CD.

That's about it for now.  Until next time, take care.  --Jim Glaser

     October 28th, 2004

Well, for once my "feeling" (about selling my house, see October 25th, below) was right.  On October 26th, I signed a contract on my house and it looks as if I'll be moving soon.  Actually, Jane and I have to find a house right away so that I can be moved out of here by November 25th.  That's Thanksgiving Day, so it appears we'll have a lot to be thankful for this year.

Oddly, right after I signed the contract for the sale I looked out my front window and saw a 6 point stag, a doe and 2 fawns strolling across my front yard, as if to say, "Goodbye, we'll miss you," or whatever it is that deer say when old friends leave.  I've certainly loved my nearly 13 years down in these peaceful woods.  A great place to reflect on the past and begin the process of moving into the next phase of my life.

As I'll be quite busy for the next month or so, I'll wish all of my friends out there the best ever Holiday Season.  Until next time, take care.  --Jim Glaser

     October 25th, 2004

The fall colors are really beginning to come out here on the Ridge in Tennessee.  There's hardly a cloud in the sky today, the temperature is absolutely perfect.  Some of you who live farther north already have the foliage at its peak.

There really isn't a lot of news, which is probably why I haven't updated this page in a while.  Carl Hileman (see Home Page) had a presentation in Memphis at the book sellers convention, and Jane and I drove down to offer our support.  I even sat on the stage with Carl, read my contribution page from  his book, and sang, "Woman, Woman."  Jane and I stayed over and did a little sight-seeing.  Memphis is a great town.

I'm still trying to get my house sold, lots of lookers but no contracts yet.  But I have a feeling that it won't be long now.

And in response to the rumors some of you have apparently heard, yes, I have agreed to work some performances as one of the Jordanaires, occasionally replacing Gordon Stoker, who's sung tenor with the group for decades.  These dates probably won't start until January, 2005, and I know no further details at this time.  I did a lot of studio vocal background work with the Jordanaires over the years, but this will be the first I've worked with them live.  The Jordanaires did all of the vocal backing for Elvis on his recordings, and some of the work I'll be doing with the group now will be in various casinos backing Elvis impersonators.  It sounds like a fun thing to do, and may help scratch that itch I've had all my life to travel, and which doesn't get satisfied all that much these days.  Musicians/singers, who knows what makes them tick?

"Me and My Dream," is still selling, both here in the U.S. and in Europe.  It's still slow going, but it's steady.  I also get lots of orders for, "Man In The Mirror," which is really gratifying considering how long since it's been released (over 20 years).

Until next time, take care.  --Jim Glaser

     August 29th, 2004

I'm having such a great time here at Dollywood, so many of you loyal friends and fans have come to the performances already.  There's no way I can remember to list all of you here, but it's been great to see you.  Terry and Michelle were here yesterday and we had a great visit.  Ruth and Pauline were back, with Debbie and her husband.

This weekend I've been able to spend some time at my son Jeff's mountaintop home.   Jane--the mother of my/our children--and our daughter Connie and her son Cameron were up this weekend and will return again before I'm finished here.  My daughter, Lynn and her husband Jeffrey and two children Keri and Stephen are going to try to be here as well.

I've heard from lots more of you who are going to try to be here, and I'll see you then.  Take care.  --Jim Glaser

     August 23rd, 2004

The first day of my 3 weeks here at Dollywood is now history.  It's great to be performing here again, and my old and dear friends, Ruth and Pauline, were right down front, just as I expected.  Back in the 80s when I was traveling so much, Ruth and Pauline were at every show we played, if it was east of the Rockies (they lived in Kentucky back then).  I've often kidded them that in those days they made more of my shows than the band and I did!

And I met a lot of new friends, too.  I'm doing a song from my new CD on the show, "If I Had You To Love Over Again," and the response has been tremendous.  Several of the songs on the CD which I've written most recently are really stated from the point of view of a maturing (I hope) person, certainly one over 50--though it's gratifying to know that younger listeners can identify with them as well--and I've had so many mature members of the audience come up after the show and tell me how much they love the song.  It really means a lot to me.

Well, I'm off to bed, must get my sleep to refresh the vocal chords.  Tomorrow's an off day, I'll do my little 3.2 mile jog, and then just take it easy.  Until next time, take care.  --Jim Glaser

     August 18th, 2004

I'm back from my son, Jim II's wedding to the beautiful Patty Guerrero, out in Seattle.  The weather was gorgeous, as was the scenery.  The wedding was held outdoors in a beautiful park, and all went well.  My daughter, Lynn, and I sang a Martina McBride song, "There You Are," a favorite of Jim's and Patty's.

And now, back in Nashville, I'm frantically getting ready for the three-week stint at Dollywood, which starts next Monday.  Actually, I'll be there on Sunday, the 22nd, for rehearsals.  I've heard from so many of you who plan to be there, and I hope all of you can make it.  In case I haven't told you before, I'll only be doing ten minutes each show, as my segment is just a small part of a larger presentation by some very talented performers.

I still don't know the times of the shows, as they are different each day.  As soon as I get them, I'll post them on the Show Dates page.  Also, I'm told I'll be performing on 15 of the 21 days I'm there, and I'll also post those days and the off days as soon as I know them.

That's it for now.  Until next time, take care.  --Jim Glaser

     July 24th, 2004

Wow, I've been quite busy since I last talked with you here.  My son, Jeff, and I went back to Nebraska for a quick trip.  He went to an outdoor show of the older Rock acts, called, "Comstock," which was being held not far from the old ranch, and I stayed with my sister, Eleanor.  Also had another nice visit with my oldest brother, Bob.  And, speaking of visits with siblings, my brother John, who lives in Omaha, will be staying with me for a few days in early August.  I'm really looking forward to that.

I've had so much wonderful response from the Country Weekly article, so many emails and letters.  Not only from those of you who are regular visitors here, but from old friends I haven't heard from in years and, of course, lots of new friends.  Thanks to all of you for your comments and to those of you who ordered CDs.

The Nashville Jim Glaser's will be going out to Seattle the second week of August, for the nuptials of Jane's and my youngest son, Jim II and his beautiful wife-to-be, Patty.  Needless to say, we're all really looking forward to that.

I still haven't sold my little nest in the Tennessee woods, but lots of lookers.  Jane and I are very anxious to start shopping for a home near where our daughters live, and get settled in.  This, I hope, will be the last time I move.  (Seems like I said that before.)

I had a great visit with Wayne, an old friend from our childhood days in Spalding, Nebraska.  He's a great guitar player who chose not to go into music as a profession ,though he certainly could have.

That's about it for now.  Take care, and I'll see some of you in Dollywood.  --Jim Glaser

     July 7th, 2004

The Country Weekly issue with my article in it is now on the newsstands.  It really looks good, my compliments to all the folks at the magazine who did such a great job!

The Glaser Family Reunion over the 4th of July was really great.  They've had them every 3 years for quite some time, but this is the first I've ever had the opportunity of attending.  I drove with my son, Jeff, his lady, Tina, her son Brandon, and my daughter Connie and her son, Cameron (one of my grandsons).  I saw many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and other kinfolk I hadn't seen in years.  My son Jeff was in charge of the fireworks, which he supplied along with some input from my grandnephew, Eric.  "A good time," as they always say, "was had by all."

My nephew, Jerry, son of my sister Eleanor, was at the reunion, and brought me a surprise gift.  It was a guitar I had given him when he was about 16 (never mind how long ago that was, I will tell you it was more than 25 years).  It was the guitar he learned to play on.  He didn't choose music as his career, though, so he brought it back to me, for old time's sake.  And, by the way, it's the guitar I'm holding as a young boy, in the photo on the back of my new CD.

For those of you who get Bill Cody's show on WSM-AM, or the satellite version of it, I'll be his guest this coming Monday, July 12th, at 7:30 AM.  That's all for now.  Take care until next time.  --Jim Glaser

     June 28th, 2004

I think I gave some of you the wrong impression about the autographs winding up on ebay, and my not wanting to supply signed photos for free anymore.  Of course I'll sign CDs that anyone orders, if you request it, and of course there is no charge for that.  Or, if any of you have pictures you've taken of me over the years which you want signed and which you send to me with an enclosed SASE, I'll be happy to sign and return them.

What I feel the need to curtail are the many requests I've been getting over the past year or so to mail out free, autographed 8 X 10 photographs, so many of which have been winding up on ebay.  Some folks even send me up to a dozen index cards asking me to sign and return them.  Autographs will always be free at my shows, but it is a bit disconcerting to see items, which I've been supplying and mailing free of charge, wind up for sale on ebay.

I'm sorry if I gave any of you the impression that I've become a mercenary in my old age.  I love this business, and I deeply appreciate all of you who come to my concerts, who check in on this site so often, those of you who order my CDs, and all of you who email me from time to time.  I'd feel terrible if I ever did anything to make you think badly of me.

I'm off to a Glaser Family Reunion over the 4th of July, up in Nebraska, near the farm where we all grew up.  They've been having them for several years now, but because of my schedule of concerts in the past, this will be the first one I've attended.

I wish all of you a great Holiday.  Please be careful, and I'll see you back here in a couple of weeks.  Take care.  --Jim Glaser

     June 18th, 2004

I did a photo shoot this week for the Country Weekly story, which is scheduled to run in the July 20th issue.  That issue hits the news stands on July 6th.

"Man In The Mirror," by the wonderful bluegrass group, Mountain Heart, is currently #6 on Billboard's Bluegrass chart, or so I've heard.  I don't get Billboard Magazine anymore so I haven't actually seen it, but, as they say, I'm quoting, "reliable sources."

In the past year or so, the number of requests I've received for autographs and autographed pictures has increased dramatically.  Now, this makes my ego feel good, but also makes little alarm bells go off in my head.  Why are all of these people all over the world suddenly asking for these items to be sent to them for free?  Up until now I've been complying, but my nephew, Lee, who monitors such things, has been sending me links to items showing up for sale on ebay.  And just last week I saw one of the autographed color photos I had mailed to someone proudly offered on ebay, starting price: $9.00.  Now, I'm all for free enterprise, but this is stretching things a bit.

Therefore, I'm going to have to adopt a new policy.  No autographs except at my live performances, and also no more free autographed photos mailed upon request.  I will probably put up a PayPal button offering autographed pictures for a fee, much as I hate to do this, but if folks are going to sell them, at least they'll have to buy them first.  Frankly, I don't expect any of these entrepreneurs to be contacting me to buy photos.

To all of my loyal friends and fans who have been with me over the years, I apologize for how this looks.  It's just a part of the new Internet age, I guess, something we all have to adjust to.  If any of you have any thoughts about this issue, please feel free to email them to me.

I'm still working the new CD, and will for months to come.  I'm mailing to jockeys and stations in Europe, Australia and New Zealand now, and the response is encouraging.  "Me and My Dream," is still selling well worldwide.  But, as the great comedic artist, Stringbean, used to say about his records on the Grand Ole Opry, my album  has sold, ...way under a million."

Thanks to all of you who check in here regularly, I really appreciate it.  To those of you who are planning to come to Dollywood, I'll see you there.  Until next time, take care.  --Jim Glaser

     June 2nd, 2004

I just heard today that the story in Country Weekly is to run in July!  Yippee!

Not much else is new, just settling into the summer here in the Tennessee woods.  My house here is still up for sale, lots of folks looking but I  haven't sold it yet.  When it does sell, I'll buy a home near where my daughters live here in middle Tennessee.

I'm removing the Radio Stations page from the web site.  I'm still sending to radio stations all over the world, but play here in the U.S. is difficult to get and chart action is impossible for an independent label like Solitare.  I'm getting lots of response from England, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, and from down under in Australia.

And both CDs are still selling well despite the dearth of radio play.  Ernest Tubb's Record Shops came in with a nice re-order over the weekend.  As I've mentioned before, they have stores here in Nashville (2) one in Pigeon Forge, and one in Fort Worth, Texas.  They also have an online store.

I hope your holiday weekend was a great a mine.  Take care and, until next time, have a great summer.  --Jim Glaser

     May 19th, 2004

The great Bluegrass group, MOUNTAIN HEART, has just released, Man In The Mirror, as their new single on Skaggs Family Records.  Some of you may remember my recording of this great Tony Arata song back in 1983.  MOUNTAIN HEART's cut is from their latest CD release, Force Of Nature.  Good luck, guys, I hope it goes all the way.  (I must admit that these good wishes are a bit altruistic, I do have part of the publishing on the song!)

     May 18th, 2004

Sadly, Grand Ole Opry manager, Pete Fisher, informed my booking agent, Joe Taylor, that the Opry was not interested in Jim Glaser appearing there (at this time, he said).  I'm sorry to have to relate this news, I have always held the Opry in the highest esteem and I still do.

I still love the Grand Ole Opry and always will.  I believe this business doesn't owe me a thing, and I will always be grateful for the years my Brothers and I spent as Opry members.  And for the times I was allowed to appear there on my own.

Of course, though this is a painful setback, it certainly isn't the end of, "Me and My Dream."  I will continue to work and promote it for months to come.  And I want to thank all of you for your confidence and support.

Until next time, take care of yourselves.  --Jim Glaser

     May 17th, 2004

It's been a while since I've updated things here, sorry to those of you who’ve checked in and found nothing new. There’s a review of, "Me and My Dream," in the new issue of the prestigious British magazine, Country Music People. I haven’t read it yet, the online site, www.countrymusicpeople.com/cd_review.html, only shows that it was reviewed. I’m told it received 3 ½ stars. I’ve asked them to mail me a copy, will post it when I receive it.

I’ve been working the record heavily in Europe, some of the early play information from over is listed on the Radio Stations page. I’ll also list some of their comment below.

I’m also still mailing the CD to a lot of radio stations here in the U.S., but that’s tougher going. Did you know that over 1,200 radio stations are owned by Clear Channel Communications? And a couple other monopolies own many more. The music these stations play is tightly controlled by the large corporations, and they only play music from the major record labels. These are the radio stations that report to Billboard Magazine and the other folks who publish the national charts, so it’s virtually impossible for independent product to ever reach these charts.

I don’t know why the FCC ever allowed these monopolies to come into existence in the first place, I thought there were laws to guard against this sort of thing. I’m not going to stop working this CD, I’ll go on as long as there’s enough strength in my body and as long as I can afford to mail it out. The music business has always been hard, but one always had the feeling that if you made records that were good enough, there was a chance that, with a little bit of luck, you could still make some noise. Things have obviously changed these days.

But, in spite of it all, I love this business!

Here are some of the comments from overseas, where people can still what they want:

Lucien Boes, Belgium — "Hello Jim, Today I received your CD, thank you for sending it to me. I have listened and be sure that I’m gonna program regular songs from this album on my country show. It's a very good album with some very good songs and also your voice is very nice to listen to. Thank you and I hope to hear more of you in future."

Veronica Capaldi, BBC Radio Lincolnshire, England — "Hi Jim, Your CD arrived this morning...& on the CD player as I type, really love Track 1....my husband is listening too & said "what a fabulous track".....only onto Track 3 at present, but I've heard enough to make it album of the week for Sunday 23rd May. Means 3 tracks, one after the other..."

Alain Demers, Brest Radio, France — "Hello From Brest In France, Thank you for your album arrived today and I have listening..,It is super very good music and very good musician and a beautiful voice I program your music for next week Thursday or Saturday..." (If I Had You To Love Over Again.)

Dann Hansen, Radio Roskilde, Denmark — "I really like track #11 named "HARD TIMES" as tells a story about something and not concern the eternity love between the youth, but something as we grown up people can feel...Your way to sing and deliver your lyric is top professional, and separate you from the thousands of artists on the market, without your experience. Your lyric is filled with heart and soul, and your way to sing is open without staggering, as shows you have foot on it all..."

Frank Hambleton, Edge Radio, Derbyshire, England — "You worked for me when you were over here on tour at the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, Derbyshire, you were mind blowing Jim. Without any doubt the best show I have ever promoted."

Sam Harris, BC Radio Newcastle, England — "Hi Jim, I received your C.D. this morning, thank you for that. I have listened to it and I am very impressed. I can tell by listening that this is the work of a professional artist and not someone who thinks he can sing, excellent!."

Rolf Hierath, Radio Rhein Welle, Wiesbaden, Germany — Playlist, May 18, 2004, website: www.cashville.de

07 Mason-Dixon Line ** Jim Glaser ** Solitare Records
08 Georgia Sunshine ** Jim Glaser ** Solitare Records

Friedrich Hog, Free Radio FM, Obermarchtal, Germany — "I'm happy to report that your CD has arrived. It's a great CD, featuring your music, not music industry music. That's really very good. I have already played "She's free but she's not easy" in my AMERICANA-Show. I'll play "Mason-Dixon Line", "Happy Hour Blues", "Don't Say Love", "Who Were You Thinkin' Of", "Georgia Sunshine" and "Hard Times" in my COUNTRY TIME-Show at 8 p.m. "Mason-Dixon Line" will be added to the AMERICANA, also. "She's free ..." will be aired in the COUNTRY TIME-Show a little later, too. I have always loved the hit-version of this fine song, too. I wish you much success with the CD. Are you going on the road to support the CD?"

Country Weekly Magazine to run Jim Glaser article!

This past week I sat down in the Nashville offices of Country Weekly Magazine with reporter Chris Neal for an article in an upcoming issue of that magazine.  I don't know at this point which of the myriad topics we discussed will make the final cut for the story, but the new CD will definitely be featured.  The last time Country Weekly ran a story on me was in July of 1998.  My thanks to Chris and to that fine magazine.

Jack and Margie, from North Carolina, write:

"I took the CD to WPEK AM, in Asheville, NC, yesterday. A friend of ours is program director there . He was very impressed and said he would start airing it tomorrow. I can't begin to tell you what a great job you did. I believe your voice is better than ever, and believe me, that's a great compliment. You have always ranked right up there with Marty. Hope all is well with you.
Thanks so much for doing this, guys.  It helps more than you can imagine.  This is a great station in a great market.

     March 31st, 2004

Terry & Michelle, from Tennessee, who bought, "Me and My Dream,"write:

"Can't tell you enough how thrilled we were to receive your new CD. It was ALL that we expected and more. In 1984 my favorite song on the "Man In The Mirror" tape was "If I Could Only Dance With You." In 2004 it's "Mason Dixon Line" . And I believe it could reach # 1 today. Your voice is still just as smooth as it was in 1984. I would
love to see Nashville re-introduced to Jim Glaser's beautiful talented voice...Also we are thrilled to hear you will be at Dollywood again this year. We are looking forward to seeing you and hearing you sing in person once again. For anyone who has listened to one of your CD's or tapes, the live version is AWESOME ! We wish you much deserved success with your new CD.

Lee Ann, from Ohio, who bought, "Me and My Dream,"writes:

"Received your new CD today and can't quit playing it! I knew it would be worth waiting for and it is everything I expected and more! I was fortunate enough to get to see you perform in Rantoul, Illinois around 1986 or '87...Your voice sounds just as great as ever. Thank you so much for making this album for us, the people who love you------and to borrow a line from your "Don't Say Love", I do mean what I say!"

Patti, from Florida, who bought, "Me and My Dream," and "Man In The Mirror," writes:

"I have a story I would like to pass on to you. My dad and I have been long time fans of yours and I ordered the CD of, "Man In The Mirror," for him. About 6 months ago he was hit by a drunk driver and thrown from his truck, hit his head and suffered a brain injury. He had to have brain surgery to release the pressure. He now is in rehab to regain use of his right side. He is 72 and has to learn to walk and talk and use his right hand again. His memory was also affected. I quit my job and moved in with Mom and Dad to help them as much as I can. This is the best part...he loves to go for long drives (I do the driving..lol) and he just relaxes while we drive around...well I put your tape in and he remembered it--and you--and knows all the songs...now he wants to drive around everyday and listen to your tape...that is why I can't wait to receive the ones I ordered so he can enjoy more songs. Maybe it is fate or something because ever since he has been listening to your songs he is getting better and stronger and has really become himself again. I tried to keep this short but I am so happy he is getting better I just wanted you to know because I think it was your music that helped. Keep your music alive."

Dale, from Nashville, just posted this in the general forum at collector's choice records:

http://www.ccmusic.com/forum/forum.cfm?FID=9

"Just released this month, "Me and My Dream," shows off the distinctive voice that worked so well with Marty Robbins; with his brothers, Tompall and Chuck as the Glaser Brothers; numerous background sessions, and of course, his own work in the 1980s, such as "You're Gettin' To Me Again" and, "Man In The Mirror."  If you've been longing for real country music, check it out.!"

     March 23rd, 2004

Rhubarb Jones, WYAY, Atlanta, Georgia, writes:

"I am so happy that you are back in the studio and working on music. You have long been a favorite of mine because Marty Robbins loved you and your brothers.  I bought "Woman, Woman" by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap in high school and always loved your clear Nebraska tenor voice. You still have it..."
And later... "I am writing you from Nassau. We are broadcasting from the Disney Wonder this week.  Jim, remember that you are a MAJOR talent recognized by one of the GREAT AMERICAN entertainers of all time, Marty Robbins.  Your brother Tompall was part of Country music's FIRST MILLION SELLING album!  YOUR blood line is part of Country music legend.  You wrote one of the BIGGEST hits of top 40 radio history.  Magic can happen at anytime for you."

Rowdy Yates, KILT, Houston, Texas, writes:

"Got the CD, and loved it. Of course, I have been a fan since the 80's, so I am kind of prejudiced!  Are you going to tour any?  Only reason I ask is because I am helping a buddy of mine put together a "legends" show, and you would fit like a glove!"

John, from Cairns Australia, who bought, "Me and My Dream," writes:

"I have received "Me and My Dream," thank you very much.  It is "so beautiful," every song is perfection.  Each sung with obvious sincerity, not to mention the joy of your distinctive pure voice. This CD was clearly a labour of love and from the heart*, if you set out to reach people you certainly achieved it.  I really hope that Me and My Dream is a huge commercial success for you, but more that it brings the recognition you so richly deserve.
* I hope you will not mind me saying that "When Will It Be My Turn", as beautiful as it is, disturbs me,......for you.  I should also tell you that when I received Man in the Mirror just after Christmas I said to my darling wife "Wow, they don't make them like this any more". Then I received Me and My Dream -How wrong I was.  Thank you for the hours of pleasure you have already given me and for those to come.

Monica , from Leicester, England, who bought, "Me and My Dream," writes:

"Thank you for giving me the pleasure of hearing your wonderful voice again.  Your CD is a credit to you.  Please don't stop releasing material that I know will bring joy to myself and everyone who listens to you."

Ron , from Indiana, who bought, "Me and My Dream," writes:

"I just received a CD with the most beautiful music that I have heard in a long time. I'm supposed to be out cleaning the woods but I can't quit listening to "Me and My Dream". This is what country music is supposed to sound like. Can you talk your daughter into singing with you on another CD? You have my vote for duet of the year. This proves that you have to do another one.  I have two classic radio stations in the area that I'm in the process of contacting about playing your music. I will let you know what they have to say. I'm going to help you prove that the radio stations are wrong about us baby boomers.  Thank you for the beautiful music,

Clem, from Florida, who bought, "Me and My Dream," writes:
"(This) CD makes me wish I were still D-Jaying somewhere. I also wish you had enough material in the can to do another one.  Remember, when the cold Tennessee wind blows down your neck, you can rest assured you are riding the hi-ways and by-ways of sunny Florida."

     March 6th, 2004

Robin, who bought, "Man In The Mirror," writes:
"My wife and I love your music!"

     March 5th, 2004

Kay, from Washington State, who bought, "Me and My Dream," writes:
"I had the Man in the Mirror LP and hunted for AGES to find a CD of it, now that my old record player is gone. I am a child of the 1960's and was a rock and roller until my baby brother converted me to country in the 1980's. You have the voice of an angel and an ability to harmonize that is smooth as smoky silk. Keep it coming, my friend."

Thomas, from California,
who bought, "Me and My Dream," writes:
     "
I am delighted to place this order as I have been hoping that you would release a new album for some time now. Best wishes and continued success, Jim. Your music is timeless!!"

Mike

Robert, who bought, "Man In The Mirror," writes:
"Miss your concerts. Come back to NM."
Steve, who bought, "Man In The Mirror" and "Me and My Dream," writes:

"I've always loved your music and I hadn't heard you on the radio in a while and I heard them play one of your songs so I decided to order your CDs.  Thanks, Jim."

     February 27th, 2004

Karen writes:
"There's not a word in the English language that can describe the feeling I felt when I listened to your new CD. It was WONDERFUL!!!! You have no idea how long your fans have waited for this. Your voice, the choice of songs, the music, the background vocals, it's just all indescribable. Your daughter's voice is as pristine as her Father's. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing with all of us your wonderful God given talent once again."

     February 24th, 2004

Daniel writes:
"I have been a fan of yours for years. I like everything you have ever done. I also love the music you and your brothers put out.  I was in the music business years back and I opened for Marty Robbins in the city of Colorado Springs, CO, just shortly before Marty left us. I was even given permission to do the "Strawberry Roan" by Marty Robbins himself.
I had to stop playing guitar for a while after that as I got into a accident with a horse and the horse won! I am so glad I found this website, so I could tell you what a positive influence you have had on my singing career and the songs I love.  God Bless you and your family. If I ever get the chance to get to see you perform in person, I will be there.  Thanks again for the great music!"
Denise, from Alabama, who bought, "Man In The Mirror," writes:

"Thank you for, "Lights of Albuquerque," I have many fond memories of dancing to that beautiful song.  I grew up in Albuquerque and I am a long way from home in Alabama.  Hearing the strains of the melody brought tears to my eyes, I hope to see the lights of Albuquerque again."

     February 22nd, 2004

Jan writes:
"Thank you for sending 'Me and My Dream' so quickly. I have played it several times already, and can't choose a favorite, all of the songs are great. Thank you, thank you."
Hal, from Georgia, writes:
"The CD is wonderful! The songs are classics, the musicians are great and the recording quality is pristine.
"It goes without saying that your voice is as sweet and pure as it was 20 years ago. Hard to believe that all those years have passed since your last LP.
"I just got my turntable back from being serviced and I've been listening to new, previously unplayed copies of three of your LP's. CD's are great but there is something about a record."

     February 20th, 2004

My old friend, Jim, who is now a disk jockey in Texas, writes, in part:
"I just reviewed your Album "Me & My Dream" again before going to the radio station tonight, and it brought tears to my eyes. The simple tracks and such good taste on the songs brought back so many memories for me. And your voice has matured into a pristine Quality Tenor that has had no rivals in the past and not even today, In my humble opinion.
"The songs are so meaningful and beautiful, as yours always have been. It reminds me of the days I would get off my Midnight 'til Dawn show at WKDA in Nashville and come to the office at 6:30am to find you and Jimmy Payne still in your office downstairs singing songs you had written overnight (as usual).  And then Bill Holmes would come down the stairs from sleeping in the studio and wander in to see what was going to be demo'd that day! Then Hoover would wander in with another song Chuck didn't know what to do with, but he still liked it! Which is more than I can say for my songs, because Chuck always accused me of writing the last verse first. And he would make me reposition the verses for him before publishing them. After a while, I just put my first verse last just to see if he liked it that way.  And he DID!
"So many simple memories from a long time ago, but still, YOUR voice is so strong, true and elegant in interpreting the songs that come from your heart. It is a joy to hear you in such great form again, my friend.
"Tonight on my 3 hour show here (in Texas) I'll be playing "If I had You To Love Over Again," "Don't Say Love,"  "When Will It Be My Turn," and "Who Were You Thinking Of?"
"Take care and God Bless You, my friend.   And thank you for Blessing me and my Listeners with such a great new CD."

You truly are a great and true friend, Jim.  Your email meant more to me than you'll ever know, and I hope you don't mind me sharing your words with my friends and fans.

Mike & Laurel from North Dakota, write:

"I just received your new CD in the mail. All I can say is WOW! You still sound the same. I became a fan when 'Man In The Mirror' was released. I was about 16 at the time. My personal favorite on this CD is, 'When Will It Be My Turn.' Thank you so much for recording this CD, it's been along time a'coming! For a while there I thought you just disappeared. After I wore out the 'Man In The Mirror' cassette I tried to find a replacement and nobody in the music stores knew who you were. Boy was I glad I found out it had been released on CD! My all time favorite album!!
Another note and I'm sure you've been asked this a thousand times but I was wondering why 'Past The Point Of No Return' and 'Everybody Knows I'm Yours' are not released on CD. It sure would be nice.
Thanks again for recording 'Me And My Dream'. It'll become one of my favorites."

Thanks, Mike.  And as I've said before, it's up to MCA, who owns the rights to those two albums, to release them on CD or not.  So far, it's "or not."

Denise from Tennessee writes:
"Me and My Dream" is a great CD and well worth the wait! Thanks for continuing to put out great music for those of us who love hearing your great voice."

A
nd Norma, who does such a wonderful job on her site which links to mine, writes:
"The whole album is absolutely fantastic! It goes without saying that your voice is still golden, but the background music is perfect! My favorites are "She's Free But She's Not Easy" which is complimented by the addition of your daughter's voice, also, "I See His Love All Over You", which I dearly loved anyway when you sang it with Tompall and Chuck as The Brothers. I also find myself enjoying "Who Were You Thinking Of", with the upbeat instrumental arrangement. Your back up throughout, is to be complimented. Not one flaw.  Don't ever think about retiring your talents."

     February 16th, 2004

Lila from Florida writes:
"As you may know, I have admired your voice since the days it was the crystal, clear compliment to Marty Robbins, as well as your brothers. This new CD is defining evidence that the crystal quality of your voice STILL remains. Even the previously recorded cuts bring a new and fresh atmosphere. And by the way, the blend with your daughter, Lynn, (on "She's Free, But She's Not Easy"), is perfect. Please bestow my plaudits to her. My vivid imagination can picture videos of "Happy Hour Blues", "I See His Love All Over You", and "Who Were You Thinkin' Of"!!"

     February 15th, 2004

Ernest Tubb Record Shop came in with an order for, "Me and My Dream," and will have copies in their stores in Nashville, Pigeon Forge, and Ft Worth Texas.  I'm setting up an account with Amazon and at some point it will be available on their sites as well.  This will be of interest for those of you who live in countries other than the US, as they're set up to ship world-wide.

I've been mailing the new CD out since last Thursday and I'm just now getting the first responses from a couple of you who've already gotten them.  I'm very interested in your opinions--whether good or bad--and I'll post excerpts from your emails as long as I can.

But first, I'm made a notation on my home page telling those of you who want to order and don't like PayPal, how you can pay by check or money order.  And now those first comments...

Ruth and Pauline from Tennessee, friends and fans for over 40 years, like the new CD.  In fact, they played it for a friend who has now ordered a copy.

Linda, from Texas, writes:
     "I just received you new CD. It is great! I never thought anything could be as good as your, "Man In the Mirror," but this is. Keep up the good work and never quit recording. I hope you will start touring soon so maybe I can see you in person."  (Me, too, Linda.}

That's all for now.  Take care until next time.  --Jim Glaser

     February 11th, 2004

Back in 1997 I toured England and Scotland with Slim Whitman, a legend over there as well as here.  It was his farewell tour, though I believe he's done at least one more farewell tour since then.  I understand how that happens as, back in 1990, I retired from the Music Business and look at me now.

Anyway, when I returned home I called my friend Doyle Grisham and asked him to help me produce a new CD.  We started many times, had exploratory sessions, etc., but somehow things just never seemed right.  But this past January, we decided to begin again in earnest.  Today, as I picked up the finished product from CRT, I had a rush of satisfaction of a long trip finally over.

I can't tell you how important the support of my fans and friends have been over these last few years.  I haven't done a lot of performing but, when I did, those of you who came to see me were always so warm and receptive, so appreciative of me and my music, that it really gave me a new lease on life.  I'll never forget you for this.  You've made the transition into my senior years a bit easier, and a lot more meaningful.

Some of you have already ordered, "Me and My Dream," and those will be shipped tomorrow.  At this point, each and every record is packaged and mailed by me.  My gratitude and appreciation goes out with one.

If you want to continue to be a part of this journey, you can help by requesting it on your local radio stations that play classic Country, ask for it at your local record store, tell them they can email me if they'd like to order. If there's enough racket, the industry will listen. Whatever you feel like doing, rest assured that I will appreciate it.

Until next time, take care.  --Jim Glaser

     February 10th, 2004

I'm supposed to have product by tomorrow, so I'm putting the shopping cart button up today.  Please understand that my first mailings will not go out until Thursday or Friday (12th or 13th).  If you do order a copy, please be prepared to wait a week or 10 days for your copy to arrive.

I want to ask all of you for your help with this, in this way.  This is my own label, and I don't have the unlimited resources of the industry giants.  If you like the CD, please don't burn a copy for your friends; instead direct them to my website.  I'd really appreciate it.

Also, if you like it, tell your friends about, mention it in chat rooms if you indulge in them, call local radio stations or whatever you can think of.  Maybe we can make this one of those wonderful, "little guy overcomes tremendous odds" stories you hear about every now and then.  We did it in the 80s with Noble Vision Records, and many of the same wonderful fans and friends from those days are still out there and have kept in touch with me over the years.  You're a very special group of people, and I'm anxious to hear your opinions of my current musical direction.  Good or bad, I want to hear it.

Ernest Tubb Record Shop has come in with an order already, for distribution in their two stores here in Nashville and the one in Ft. Worth, Texas, as well as on their web site.  And soon I'll be set up to offer it on Amazon.com, too.  I'm also hiring a promotion person to help with reviews, etc.

Take care until next time.  --Jim Glaser

       February 7th, 2004

I should have CDs by Wednesday the 11th, is all goes well.  However, I called CRT twice on Friday and my contact person was out.  I left messages but didn't get a callback.  Still, I'm hopeful.

I've been working all day on the "buy" buttons on my home page, and HTML code is not one of my favorite computer languages.  And sometimes even after I've added the appropriate code it takes a bit for the PayPal linking site to respond properly, or so it seems to me.  I've tried to set it up for the purchase of multiple items, with a shopping cart and all of that.  Except for the Christmas book, which will remain a single purchase item because of the added cost of shipping a book compared to CDs.

A skiff of snow on the ground this morning when I looked, temperatures in the 20s.  I complained to my brother John in Omaha and he informed me that that they had two feet of snow on the level up there, with temperatures in the single digits.  It brought back memories of my Nebraska childhood.  Brrrr...

If any of you have tried the Paypal buttons and have had any problems with them, be sure to let me know.  I'm still working on them from this end.

Until next week, take care.  --Jim

     February 2nd, 2004

CRT has the OK to press, and are doing so as I'm writing this.  Now I'm getting paranoid that all of you will hate it, or worse, consider it, "Ho Hum."  Oh well, maybe after all this time a little paranoia will be forgiven.

At any rate, I've uploaded the cover, the credits, and much of the graphics, along with the song titles and a description and explanation for each.

Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to write.  And to answer the "Dollywood again this year?" question, I still have no word.  I know they are making some changes to their format again, but I still haven't heard who, if anyone, will be appearing there.

     Take care.  --Jim

     January 30th, 2004

I just got off the phone with CRT, they're emailing me a copy of the final changes to the graphics and, when I E-mail them my OK, we'll have product within 10 days.  So I'm going out on a limb and stating that at the longest, I should have CDs in my hands by February 16th.  We may even beat that by a few days.

A bitterly cold day here in Music City.  Take care.  --Jim Glaser

     January 21st, 2004

Well, that's it!  I'm going to stop telling you when I'll have a final release date.  No one would believe me anyway.

I did get the proofs of the graphics on Monday, but Heather didn't get hers until yesterday.  There were a couple of problems, so she touched them up and sent it back to CRT.

I'll get back to you when I actually do have a final date.  And thanks for checking in here.  Take care.  --Jim Glaser

     January 15th, 2004

The master is now at CRT, the pressing plant that will press (or make copies, whatever they call it now) and we're only waiting for a proof copy of the graphics so that the graphics person, Heather, and I can O.K. it.  That should be done by Monday, January 19th, and I'll have an actual date then when I'll have copies in hand.  Now I have to figure out all over again how to put those "buy" buttons on my home page again!  Take care.  --Jim Glaser

     January 12, 2004

We mastered the CD last Monday (5th) then went back in last Friday to tweak up a couple of things after living with the reference disks for a few days.  Today I take the final product to the pressing plant, and I should have a pretty good estimate of when I will have product to sell.  We still have to get proofs of the artwork from the pressing plant so that we can okay it before they go to press.  I'll know more about that when I get there today.  I should have a new update in the next day or two with a release date (finally!).

Thanks to all of you for your patience.  Take care.  --Jim Glaser

     January 1st, 2004

May this be the best New Year for all of you, I wish you the very best.  The new CD is going to the pressing plant this month, I promise.  (If I have any integrity left in this matter.)  Take care.  --Jim Glaser
