It’s hot here in Tennessee, I mean really hot! Add in the humidity and the “feels like” temperature is over 100 degrees nearly every day.
Jane and I are having a great summer, in spite of the heat. All of our family has been visiting; Jim II, his wife, Patty, and their 3 children – Kayla, Alex and Dylan – came from the Seattle, Washington, area and spent 2 weeks with us. Our oldest daughter, Lynn (who works in television and movie production) joined us when she returned from Gulf Shores, Florida, where CMT was televising the Jimmy Buffet concert. Jeff, our oldest son, came from Savannah, Georgia, where he now has his store called, LG’s (formerly The Hemp Store, located in Gatlinburg, Tennessee).  Connie, our other daughter (an echo and ultrasound tech) and her son, Cameron, live close by and her daughter, Jessica (an actress living in Los Angeles) were able to join us for a few days. We all had a wonderful time; it was so great to all be together again. Needless to say, the house seems very quiet and empty now.
My concert in Clare, Michigan, on June, 26th, went really well. The musicians who worked with me (known as “Center Stage”) sounded great and I truly appreciate their efforts in learning and rehearsing my material. I’ll be working with them again on August 25th, in Port, Huron, Michigan, and on August 26th, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
Wolverine Productions in Michigan (Don Potter, Barry Faulkner, Rick Middleton) put on these shows and I’ve worked for these great guys off and on for many years. Rick, who handled the show in Clare, sent me a letter the next day containing the following comments:
“This morning I told your booking agent, Brent Taylor, what a terrific concert you gave in Clare, Michigan. Having not seen your show in quite a while I was just as awestruck as the rest of the audience by your performance.  It was a pleasure to experience the purity of your singing and the warmth and sincerity of your performance.
“I cannot help but conclude that a lifetime of singing has been valuably spent in preparing you to be even better now than you were when I last saw you perform. Very truly yours, –Rick Middleton.”
Rick has released a CD called, “The Gipper was a Yooper,” the true story of Upper Michigan’s own George Gipp, who will forever linked to his coach, Knute Rockne, by the famous "Win one for the Gipper" speech. The Gipper died in December 1920, just weeks after leading Notre Dame to an undefeated season. For more information and to order a copy of this great CD, go to Rick’s website:

Thanks to all of you who have contacted me asking if we're safe from the massive flooding taking place in middle Tennessee.  Jane and I are fine, our house is high and dry, as is our daughter Connie's house.
Our daughter, Lynn's, house in East Nashville has some problems with the Cumberland river, however.  I went down there yesterday afternoon and she had raised all of her furniture up off the floor on cement blocks.  The river was still rising a bit late in the day and she came to our house to spend the night.  We've heard that the river has crested at Nashville and is starting to recede, so that's good news.  Her backyard is under water which has filled the space beneath her house.  At one point the massive amounts of run-off from the heavy rains brought the water up and into her house, but the damage seems to be minimal compared to so many people who have lost everything.
We brought her kitten, Molly, out to our house and she'll stay here until Lynn's house is cleaned up.  It will be a few days before the water leaves her yard and we can begin re-building her privacy fence and cleaning up the debris.

I haven't signed on here for quite a while, primarily because not much has been happening in my life, career-wise.  Jane and I are both healthy and happy, summer has arrived here in middle Tennessee, and all the kids and grand kids are great.
Our youngest son, Jim II, and his wife, Patty, are the proud grandparents of a tiny little girl, Zoe Rose, born a bit prematurely and weighing only 3 1/2 pounds.  Both Zoe and her mother, Amanda, are doing well.  When Jim II called to tell us the news, he said Zoe was so tiny that her face was the size of the bottom of a coke can.  Now, that's tiny.
Lynn's daughter, Keri, is expecting in a few months, so it's obvious that life is going on....and on...and on.  It's an amazing and wonderful thing to witness.
I'm trying some new things on the web site, I'll probably make quite a few changes in the days and weeks to come.  I'll be adding some new features soon, too, if all goes well.

My laptop computer has crashed again, the second time since last May.  This time, however, it wasn't a malware virus (at least I don't think it was) but a motherboard problem.  I spent two entire days taking it apart, cleaning it, and putting it back together again.  An amazing experience, really.  I've always done most of the maintenance work on my desktops, going back to 1986 when my nephew, Jerry Ryan ¾ already an accomplished computer whiz ¾ helped me get set up with my first one.
But my laptop is far from being 100% fixed, I've still got some serious problems.  But at least I can use it to wade through some of the huge stack of things to do that has piled up.
We're having a taste of winter here in Tennessee, the most snow in seven years.  It's mostly gone now.
January 1st was my 31st anniversary as a runner/jogger/shuffler.  I managed to do a little over 700 miles last year for a 31-year total of nearly 20,500 miles.  And speaking of doing the miles, I've got to go out now and get them done for today so I can get back to all the "stuff" I've got to do, like add some new photos to the Photos page.
